General information
Travel to Russia requires an entry visa. The Consular Section issues different categories of visas to Russia based upon the purpose of the trip and duration of stay.
Please note: since October 23, 2021 the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in the Sultanate of Oman has resumed issuing all types of visas. Visas are issued to Omani citizens and citizens of third countries who have documents proving their right to reside permanently in Oman.
In accordance with clause 5 of the order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated March 16, 2020 No. 635-r, the processing and issuance of e-visas to foreign citizens has been temporarily suspended due to the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)!!!
Foreign nationals are required to present a negative PCR test upon arrival in Russia at border control. Tests are valid for 2 days only. The test sample collection date on the test result should indicate that it was taken no more than 48 hours before state border of the Russian Federation.
The following documents should be submitted in person in order to obtain a visa according to its category:
- Application available online at http://visa.kdmid.ru. All questions in the application form should be answered. If a question is not applicable to the applicant, he should put "N/A". Each application form must be signed by the visa applicant personally. Incomplete visa application forms shall not be processed. HANDWRITTEN APPLICATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED!!!
- Valid national passport (original only and it should have at least two clear visa pages). It must be valid not less than six months after the visa expiration date.
- One picture of an applicant (passport size) should be glued to the visa application.
- Visa support document;
- Medical insurance valid in the country to be visited and fully covering the period of staying in Russia (if you are applying for a multiple visa - the period of the first trip);
- Travel document (flight ticket, etc.), confirming the dates of the trip
- Copies of the passport and residence permit;
Dear Applicants, when applying for a Russian visa please be advised on the following.
- Non-Omani citizens should also provide proof of legality of their staying in UOman (residence visa; entry stamp for the citizens of the countries maintaining a visa-free regime with Oman) when applying for a visa;
- In accordance with Russian laws citizens of the Russian Federation regardless of any other citizenship they may have are treated as Russian citizens only and must travel to Russia on valid Russian documents;
- Visa processing starts only after the Consulate has collected all necessary documents (including payment);
- Visa processing fee is not refundable;
- Type of visa or dates of entry/departure can not be changed or extended. If your travel plans have changed after the visa issuance you have to reapply for a new visa;
- After you have received your visa, please check all the data indicated in it and, if necessary, return it to the Consulate for corrections. The Consulate will not be responsible for any mistakes in the visas, which were not brought to our attention prior to your departure from the Oman;
- Any visa applicant may be interviewed by the Consular Officer, if necessary;
- Processing time, requirements and fees are subject to change without notice;
- In certain cases the Consulate is entitled to consider visa applications as long as it necessary. Visa can be denied if the Consulate has serious reasons to believe that an applicant's entry into or stay in the territory of the Russian Federation will not be desirable;
- Person can not have two valid visas in one passport. In this case the first visa to be cancelled.
The Consulate General also avails itself of the right to invite the applicants for an interview and request, if needed:
- A bank statement from the applicant;
- A statement from the employer regarding the applicant's wages for the preceding year/ half year, or month;
- Documents regarding the applicant's ownership of property in the country of his citizenship;
- A certificate on the makeup of the applicant's family.
According to the Russian Federation Federal Law No. 114-FZ of August 15, 1996 «On Procedure for Exit from the Russian Federation and Entry to the Russian Federation» entry to the Russian Federation for a foreigner or a stateless citizen is not permitted if the foreigner or stateless citizen does not have health insurance valid in the territory of the Russian Federation.
